RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- The sounds of cheering Hurricanes fans inside Lenovo Center are being replaced by construction equipment as the arena undergoes major upgrades this summer.
The venue is now closed for the next eight weeks as crews move forward with the next phase of a $300 million renovation project.
Work will focus on several key improvements throughout the arena.
Crews will spend the summer refreshing seating in the lower bowl, including reconfiguring the 100-level seating area.
Fans can also expect upgrades to amenities, with all-new bathrooms planned, including additional family restrooms.
The project will also include updates to the arena's main access points.
Both the east and west entrances are set to receive renovations as part of the ongoing improvements.
The upgrades are part of a broader effort to modernize Lenovo Center ahead of the next Hurricanes season and future events.
The arena is expected to reopen later this summer once construction wraps up.
