Multiple people seriously hurt in 4-vehicle crash in Harnett County

HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Multiple people were seriously hurt in a multi-vehicle crash Thursday night in Harnett County.

The crash happened around 7:49 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 421 and Sandy Ridge Drive in the Broadway-Seminole area.

Emergency crews found four vehicles involved -- two in the roadway and two off the road -- when they arrived at the scene.

Authorities shut down a section of U.S. Highway 421 for several hours as crews worked the scene. The roadway has since reopened.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
