Husband of missing Cary woman says drowning may be most likely scenario

CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- New details have emerged in the disappearance of a Cary woman who vanished while vacationing in the Caribbean.

Liz Waddell was reported missing after disappearing July 22 while swimming off Grand Anse Beach in Grenada.

In a written update shared Friday, Waddell's husband said he now believes drowning may be the most likely explanation for her disappearance.

"Based on everything we know, it seems drowning may be the most likely scenario," he wrote.

However, he also said there are still unanswered questions surrounding what happened.

"A lot doesn't make sense," he added.

According to Waddell's husband, investigators have found no evidence that she intended to disappear. He said her journals contained plans for the future with him and their daughter, reinforcing the family's belief that she did not leave voluntarily.

The search for answers continues as authorities work to determine what happened to Waddell.
