Nash County schools work to fix air conditioning issues
NASH COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Nash County Public Schools says it is working to address air conditioning problems affecting several schools across the district as students and staff return to classrooms during a stretch of hot weather.
In a message to families Wednesday evening, district leaders said maintenance crews are actively diagnosing issues, making repairs and working to restore air conditioning as quickly as possible.
According to the district, when an air conditioning problem is reported, the maintenance department responds while school staff monitor temperatures and conditions inside affected buildings throughout the day. Schools may also adjust the use of classrooms and other spaces to help keep students and staff comfortable while repairs are being made.
District officials noted that maintenance teams serve schools and facilities across Nash County and are prioritizing repairs based on the needs at each location.
"The health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority," the district said in its statement.
School leaders acknowledged concerns from families, especially during periods of high temperatures, and said they are committed to resolving the issues as quickly as possible while continuing to monitor conditions at affected schools.
District officials said families will be notified directly if conditions at a school require changes to the normal school day or operations.
