
RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- The National Retail Federation expects Americans to spend a record amount of $29 billion on Valentine's Day gifts this year.
According to the NRF's annual survey, shoppers are budgeting around 200 dollars on Valentine's Day gifts for romantic partners, family members, children's classmates and teachers, and co-workers.

Candy remains the most popular Valentine's Day gift with 56% of consumers planning to buy candy. 41% of consumers are purchasing flowers and greeting cards, 39% are enjoying the holiday with an evening out, and 25% are gifting jewelry.
For those who are not celebrating Valentine's Day, 31% are still finding ways to mark the occasion like splurging on a gift or self-care, planning a get-together or outing with friends and family.
