Man found shot after Durham police respond to assault call in downtown

Duke ER doctors on the front lines of violent crime

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Durham Police Department (DPD) is investigating a shooting that happened late Saturday.

According to DPD, the investigation started around 11:38 p.m. after officers responded to reports of an assault near the intersection of Queen and Liberty Streets in downtown.

Once on the scene, officers found a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital with what police described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting is still under investigation.
