RALEIGH, N.C. -- The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has awarded $3 million for a new commuter bus service from Raleigh to Rocky Mount.
Officials said the new service will help meet the immediate need for workforce transportation as the region continues to grow with new businesses and job opportunities.
The initiative will offer weekday service during peak commuting hours.
The goal is to get service from other communities such as Wilson, Greenville, and Roanoke Rapids to connect in Rocky Mount and then ultimately to Raleigh.
Project stakeholders are working to finalize the details of the program.
