"Hunting Wives" among productions shot in NC to boost state economy

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- North Carolina has approved film and entertainment grants for two television series and an independent feature film, which are expected to create over 4,900 jobs and spend over $113 million during their production windows.

"North Carolina remains a top state for film, and these grants enable us to continue our strong tradition of TV and film production excellence," Governor Josh Stein said.

The productions include Season 2 of "The Hunting Wives", filming in the Lake Norman and Greater Charlotte areas; the first season of "RJ Decker", shooting in New Hanover County; and the thriller "Widow", recently completed in Davidson, Forsyth, Stokes, and Yadkin counties.

Stein said film production is all about jobs in NC and these productions will bring direct economic benefits and raise the state visibility, leading to increased tourism and visitor spending.

Several recent North Carolina-filmed projects have premiered or are set to debut soon. These include "Merv", a holiday feature filmed in New Hanover County in 2024 and released on Amazon Prime Video on December 10. Other notable releases include "A Little Prayer," "Christy," and "Roofman," along with streaming series like "The Runarounds," Season 3 of "The Summer I Turned Pretty," and "The Waterfront," all debuting in 2025.
