RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- New census data ranks Raleigh-Cary as the 10th fastest-growing metro area in the country, and Wake County had the fifth most growth of any county last year.
Janandeeb Kaur moved her family to Cary from Florida six months ago, right after she had her second child. She was drawn to the area for better schools.
"Everything is great here," said Kaur. "We are loving it. The weather is nice. Everything is good. "
Some developers are maximizing available land, especially inside the Raleigh Beltline. They sometimes build two homes on a single lot.
Eddie Wilson, with Raleigh is Growing Residential, said inventory is catching up with demand, which is affecting the average sale price.
"We're seeing a price point of about $427,000," said Wilson. "That's down a little bit, but that's also meaning that buyers are having a little bit of negotiating room, which we haven't seen in over 10 years."
Another community in the region also saw significant gains. Sanford ranked eighth for micro areas experiencing growth.
