Congress approved broad bipartisan bill aimed at lowering housing costs
The future of Moore Square is drawing attention as the City of Raleigh wants affordable housing, commercial space, and outdoor dining in the area.
The city faces a $13 million shortfall. "There remains little doubt that we will need to raise property taxes."
Under the program, homeowners are eligible for loans of up to $80,000 at a 2% fixed interest rate for 30 years.
"We will continue to fight until we see the ribbon cutting, until we see the units open, until individuals moving in can finally say, 'I have affordable housing.'"
Developers continue to eye the Bull City, from Target's plans at the former Northgate Mall site to Southpoint, where hundreds of new units are proposed.
