RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Mike Ryan was among the first of 12 people to move into the Mira Apartment building when it open doors two years.
Now, he's watching as the City Gateway project is talking shape and is excited for what's on tap.
"I think it's just growth, and growth is good," said Ryan.
A developer says it is part of city's goal to reduce greenhouse emissions and increase walkability.

"I love it," said Ryan. "It just shows that we're always expanding more and I love living here because it's a quick 20-minute walk to work for me."
The developers are working with about 10 acres of land and they're packing a lot into this space.
The Central Plaza will have a public gathering area. There will be a 228-space automated parking deck, where robotic lifts will move vehicles into spaces and each one of them is capable of EV charging.

ABC11 was told it's a first.
"We're not aware of one in Raleigh. We're really not aware of one on the East Coast," said FirstFloor Development Manager Asher McGlothlin.
That should be ready for people to use the beginning of 2027.
A hotel, another residential building with ground level retail space, and a mixed-used commercial building are also planned.
"We're in the process of extending Kinley Street down to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. This is all part of the City's comprehensive plan and part of the city's overall strategy to make this part of the city feel more pedestrian," said McGlothlin. "Our firm has had a focus on sustainability for a number of years now, and we really think it can serve as a model for sustainable development in an urban area."
The project will also include a pedestrian link from Red Hat Amphitheater to Dix Park.
