
RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A head-on collision in Raleigh Monday night left one driver dead and another seriously hurt, police said.
It happened around 8:30 p.m.on the southbound lanes of Falls of Neuse Road near Cedarhurst Drive. Officers found a Honda Accord and a Toyota Rav4 heavily damaged.
The driver of the Honda, later identified as 45-year-old Juan Carlos Barrera Aragon, was pinned inside the car. He died from his life-threatening injuries, Raleigh Police Department confirmed, and was the only person inside the car at the time of the crash.
The woman driving the Toyota was taken to a hospital with critical injuries. There were no passengers in her car.
According to investigators, Aragon was traveling north on Falls of Neuse Road and crossed into the southbound lanes, hitting the Toyota head-on.
RPD said the smell of alcohol was coming from Aragon during the investigation.

No charges have been filed at this time. The crash is still under investigation.
The southbound lanes of Falls of Neuse were closed until at least 11:30 p.m.
