HOUSTON -- Another day, another hair heist in the Houston area. This time, burglars broke into Brashae's Beauty Supply.
The crime occurred around 4 a.m. this morning, according to store owner. The owner explained security footage shows two men, one sporting a baseball cap and the other with bandanna, breaking through the drywall to get inside the store.
Once the crooks made their way in, they went straight for expensive human hair. The owner estimated about $9,000 worth of product was stolen from the store, and the thieves left a big mess behind.
"Really how much hair can you steal? They gone broken in beauty supply every day [for] the last week and half," store owner Don Hilliard said. "How much hair do you really want on the streets of Houston?"
"There seems to be a rash of these in the last several days," said Lt. Larry Crowson with HPD. "Hard to tell if they're connected."
Investigators say they will work to figure out if this crime is connected to any of the other beauty supply store break-ins.
"This is different from the other ones. They involved stolen trucks ramming the walls and windows," Crowson said.
Hilliard says he's actually been sleeping at the store the past few nights worried that this would happen. Now, he has one message for the crooks.
"Get a job. Get a job because me and my family work hard for what we have," said Hilliard.
