FORT BRAGG, N.C. (WTVD) -- Service members, veterans and their families gathered at Fort Bragg for the annual Red, White and Boom Fest, a large-scale celebration honoring America's 250th anniversary.

Despite some early showers, the event's energy remained high as attendees filled the Main Post Parade Field to mark America's 250th anniversary.

The celebration began with a performance by the 82nd Airborne Division Band and a demonstration by an all-veteran parachute team. Organizers also brought in national musical acts spanning rock, country and pop.

Attendees described the atmosphere as patriotic and community-driven.

"It feels like one large family," said U.S. Coast Guard member Correna Ambrose. "Family-friendly, patriotic, community, unity."

The festival also includes a headlining performance by The Fray and followed by a fireworks display.

Red, White and Boom Fest is one of several events across central North Carolina leading up to Fourth of July celebrations.
