Smithfield man charged with murder after wife shot at workplace

SMITHFIELD, N.C. (WTVD) -- Authorities are investigating a deadly domestic dispute in Johnston County.

It happened around 5 a.m. at the AAF Flanders plant at 2121 Wal-Pat Road in Smithfield.

A man has been charged, according to the Johnston County Report.

Police said Jesus Bermudez allegedly went to the business and shot his wife. Lorena Capera Paz was found in the parking lot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bermudez was taken into custody about four hours after the shooting at his home in Smithfield and charged with one count of first-degree murder.

Bermudez was being held at the Johnston County Detention Center without bond.
