ZEBULON, N.C. (WTVD) -- The town of Zebulon's new police chief was officially sworn in Monday.
The town announced it has appointed Anthony Puckett as the next chief of police nearly two weeks ago. He brings over 30 years of law enforcement experience, having served as chief in Nashville and Spring Hope, and most recently as police major at NC State University.
"I am honored to join the Zebulon community and lead the dedicated men and women of the Police Department," Chief Puckett said in a news release. "My focus will be on strengthening trust, enhancing transparency, and ensuring that every resident and business feels safe and supported as our town continues to grow."

Earlier in his career, he held supervisory roles in Wake Forest and Rocky Mount police departments, leading K-9 units, SWAT operations and officer training. According to a news release, Puckett has emphasized community, policing, officer development and accountability.
"Chief Puckett's career reflects not only decades of experience but also a clear commitment to community-centered policing," Interim Town Manager Taiwo Jaiyeoba said in a news release. "Our residents asked for a leader who values transparency, integrity, and building trust. We believe Chief Puckett will embody those values while guiding our department through Zebulon's growth. As we begin this new chapter as a town, I'd like to thank Deputy Chief Bob Grossman who has served in an interim capacity since January 2025."
The swearing-in ceremony was held at Zebulon Town Hall inside the Council Chambers.
