Tree takes down power lines, closing stretch of Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- More than 300 Duke Energy customers in Raleigh are without power on Friday after a tree took down power lines.

It happened on Glenwood Avenue at Vick Road, where a massive tree is blocking the road.

Glenwood is closed in both directions.

Crews are working to clear the area, but it could take several more hours to get the power back on.

The outage comes amid dangerously hot weather.

Police officers are redirecting traffic in the area, as some traffic lights have been affected.
