SAN ANTONIO, TX (WTVD) -- One of North Carolina's brightest young basketball stars will get a behind-the-scenes look at the NBA's biggest stage before beginning his professional career.

Former UNC forward Caleb Wilson has been selected by the NBA as a Player Correspondent for the 2026 NBA Finals, the league announced Tuesday.

Wilson will serve as the correspondent for Game 1 of the Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night in San Antonio. As part of the program, he'll create digital content, conduct interviews and give fans a unique perspective from inside one of the sport's premier events.

The Player Correspondent Program gives current and future basketball stars access to major NBA events while helping them develop media and storytelling skills.

Wilson is among five players chosen for this year's Finals coverage and is one of two NBA Draft prospects participating in the program. The others include projected top draft pick AJ Dybantsa along with Derik Queen, Jeremiah Fears and Kon Knueppel.

The opportunity comes as Wilson prepares for the 2026 NBA Draft after spending the 2025-26 season at North Carolina. The highly touted forward entered college as one of the nation's top recruits and is expected to hear his name called early in the draft later this month.

Wilson's selection continues a tradition of future NBA stars participating in the program. Previous Player Correspondents have included current NBA standouts Paolo Banchero, Scottie Barnes, Tyrese Maxey, Donovan Mitchell and Jaren Jackson Jr.

The 2026 NBA Finals begin Wednesday night with Game 1 between the Knicks and Spurs. Coverage of Wilson's behind-the-scenes experience will be featured across the NBA's digital and social media platforms throughout the series.
