
RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Wake County deputy was taken to a hospital after he was hit by a car on Friday afternoon.
The incident started about 2:20 p.m. in the 4000 block of Jones Sausage Road in Garner near Integrity Court. That's right off I-40 south in Raleigh

A worker at the nearby Sheetz convenience store told ABC11 that the incident may have started as an altercation inside the store.
The sheriff's office confirmed that a deputy who was stopped at the Sheetz tried to assist with a person who was trespassing.
When the deputy tried to arrest him, the man resisted. During the struggle, the deputy deployed pepper spray. The suspect then got into a car and backed it into the deputy,
The driver of a white pickup that remained at the scene told ABC11 that the suspect also hit his vehicle. The suspect's vehicle has since been towed away.
Deputies have charged Tevin Maurice Hester, 30, with one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, one count of resisting public officer causing serious injury, one count of felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, two counts of habitual misdemeanor assault, and several other related offenses.
Hester was taken into custody and taken to a hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries.
The deputy's injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening.
The incident remains under investigation.
