WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WTVD) -- A City of Raleigh employee is facing a felony assault charge after police say she shot her uncle in the foot on Easter Sunday, prompting a heavy law enforcement response in a quiet Wake Forest neighborhood.
Wake Forest police said 48-year-old Magda Holloway, an engineer for the City of Raleigh and former Town of Wake Forest employee, barricaded herself inside a home on Perini Court for hours before surrendering. Officers were called to the 9300 block on Sunday afternoon as neighbors told ABC11 that they were looking to enjoy their Easter holiday.
"We pulled up to the stop sign and saw about eight police cars, and they had guns drawn on the house and around the house," neighbor Kelsey Ropon said.
According to Holloway's uncle, Lance Marshall, the incident began when his niece tried to start an argument with him about her mother, who is his sister. Marshall said he refused to engage, and Holloway went upstairs, retrieved a firearm, aimed at him, and shot him in the foot. He said she initially aimed for his chest.
"It seemed like they were trying to get someone to come out of the house. And when we were leaving, more ambulances were coming onsite," said Ropon.
Police said Marshall exited the home when officers arrived, while Holloway refused to come out. She eventually surrendered and was taken to jail.
Marshall declined to go to the hospital. He said he was traumatized by the shooting.

Holloway was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, as well as misdemeanor resisting a public officer and discharging a firearm within city limits. She was given a $200,000 bond and ordered not to have contact with her uncle, despite the two living in the same home.
"We've been waiting to hear what all happened and if everyone is all right," Ropon said.
Holloway is scheduled to appear in court on April 23.
