Here's a partial list of what's open on Christmas Eve and Christmas around the Triangle:


Schools

  • Schools closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Durham, Wake, Johnston, Orange, and Chatham counties.

  • Check with individual districts to see when school is back in session.

  • Post Office

  • Local post offices are open Christmas Eve, however many will shorten lobby hours and close and noon.

  • Post Offices will be closed on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25. Regular mail will not be delivered that day.

  • State, City, and County Offices

  • State, city, and county offices will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

  • Federal Offices

  • Federal offices are open with normal hours on Christmas Eve

  • Offices close Christmas Day

  • Banks


  • Banks are open Christmas Eve (check with your bank for hours, closings).

  • Banks are closed Christmas Day.

  • ABC Stores

  • ABC stores are open Christmas Eve, but may have shortened hours.

  • Stores are closed Christmas Day

  • Libraries

  • Libraries around the Triangle are closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

  • Buses


  • Buses will run in some counties, but stop service around 7 p.m. Get more information by calling 919-485-RIDE (7433).

  • Buses will not run Christmas Day.

  • Garbage pickup

  • Trash collection will run as usual, but will not pick up Christmas Day.

  • Cary pickup will run one day earlier.
