Woman fatally shot at homeless encampment in Cumberland County
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A woman was shot and killed Monday morning at a homeless encampment, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies responded around 11 a.m. to the camp, which was in a wooded area at the end of Bureau Drive in Fayetteville.
They found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She died at the scene.
Her identity has not yet been released.
The sheriff's office said this was not a random incident and there appeared to be no ongoing threat to the public.
