RALEIGH, N.C. -- A woman was killed early Sunday after being struck by a vehicle along Glenwood Avenue in north Raleigh, according to police.
Raleigh police said officers were called to the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Westborough Drive just before 3:45 a.m. for a crash involving a pedestrian.
Investigators say a 2017 BMW 320 sedan, driven by a man, was traveling southbound when it struck a woman who was in the travel lane. Police noted the area has limited lighting. The driver stayed at the scene and has been cooperative.
The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name has not been released as authorities work to notify next of kin.
Police said impairment is not suspected, and no charges have been filed at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
A portion of Glenwood Avenue was closed for several hours while crews worked the scene but reopened shortly after 7 a.m. Sunday.
