NC woman dies after being hit by driver on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. -- A woman was killed early Sunday after being struck by a vehicle along Glenwood Avenue in north Raleigh, according to police.

Raleigh police said officers were called to the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Westborough Drive just before 3:45 a.m. for a crash involving a pedestrian.

Investigators say a man was driving southbound when he hit a woman who was in the travel lane. Officers noted the area has limited lighting. The driver stayed at the scene and has been cooperative, according to Raleigh police.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name has not been released.

Police said impairment is not suspected, and no charges have been filed at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
