
ZEBULON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man is dead and his father is facing murder charges related to the shooting on Wednesday night at a house in Zebulon, police say.
According to Zebulon police, multiple agencies responded to a reported assault after a 911 call around 6:30 p.m. on Taramar Lane. While en route, authorities learned the caller was also the victim and had been shot. They were also told the person was experiencing 'serious bleeding.'
Zebulon police say while officers were trying to get inside the house to investigate, a German Shepard ran toward them aggressively, forcing them to shoot the dog.
First responders started life-saving measures on the victim until EMS arrived, but they say the victim, Tristan Torry, died at the scene.
The alleged shooter, 59-year-old Andrew Torry, was taken to Zebulon police as part of the investigation. Police confirm that Andrew is Tristan's father.
Thursday morning, he appeared before a magistrate and was charged with felony murder in Tristan's death. According to the arrest warrant, police say Andrew 'unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously with malice aforethought, caused the death of Tristan.
