RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A Raleigh man is facing an array of charges Saturday after he allegedly attempted to strangle a pregnant woman, stole her purse, and seriously damaged her friend's car.

Police said it happened Thursday evening in the 2900 block of Poole Road. Michael Kristian Weiner, 25, reportedly tried to strangle the pregnant victim, with whom he has a relationship. Police did not clarify what the relationship was between Weiner and the victim.

After Weiner stole the victim's purse, police said the victim got into a car driven by a friend. Authorities told ABC11 Weiner then smashed the vehicle's windshield. When the victim and her friend attempted to flee, Weiner used his vehicle to ram theirs from behind, forcing the victims' car from the road.

Neither the victim nor her friend sustained serious injuries.

Weiner is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, assault by strangulation, and common law robbery.

Weiner is being held at the Wake County Detention Center.
