Raleigh woman killed in Arkansas
Police say a Raleigh woman has died after she was shot over the weekend at a gas station in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (WTVD) -- Friends of a Wake County woman are trying to find out exactly how she was shot and killed in Arkansas.

The 39-year old, Amy Ashley, was shot Saturday night just after 11 p.m. A friend here in the Triangle tells ABC11 that Ashley was driven to a nearby Valero gas station in North Little Rock to get help.

Sgt. Brian Dedrick of the North Little Rock Police Department said investigators found Ashley inside an SUV with multiple gunshot wounds. Police said Ashley died after being removed from life support on Monday.

Dedrick won't say at this point whether the crime was random but does say the investigation is still active and detectives are canvassing the area where the shooting happened. They have also asked the public for leads.

Ashley worked at a Sports Clips salon in North Raleigh according to a co-worker there.

The co-worker says Ashley was travelling with a friend.

Although Arkansas authorities are calling Ashley a "Raleigh woman," the friend and co-worker says she has lived in different places in Wake County over the years, most recently in Cary and Holly Springs.
