ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Roanoke Rapids woman has been charged with statutory rape after the child's parents reported her to police.

Police were called to the 400 block of Wallace Fork Road Tuesday at 8:45 p.m. for a possible sex offense involving a minor.

The child's parent told Lt. Perry Parks that there was inappropriate conduct between their child and the suspect. Police would not reveal the child's age or gender to protect the identity of the victim.

After an investigation, authorities obtained warrants for 29-year-old Chastity Dawn Keeter. Police said Keeter is unemployed and not in a position to supervise minors.

Keeter was arrested Wednesday on Wallace Fork Road. She is charged with statutory rape of a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

She was given an $80,000 bond and an Oct. 19, 2016 court date.

Police are still investigating and more charges could be possible.
