ROXBORO, NC (WTVD) -- The Person County Sheriff's Office says two people are in custody after a murder near an elementary school Tuesday.
Person County Sheriff Dewey Jones said a warrant for first-degree murder was issued for 26-year-old William Thomas Swann in the shooting death of 22-year-old Niko Emmanuel Hester at the Brookwood Apartments off Henderson Road just after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Swann was considered armed and dangerous, but was captured in Edenton, N.C. on Thursday.
North Elementary School was on lockdown as deputies responded to the shooting.
Deputies have charged 22-year-old Tomari Jayd Torain with murder and accessory after the fact. They say she drove Swann from the shooting scene.
Swann is in custody and will be charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy, authorities said.
