RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Raleigh police have arrested a suspect in connection with the home invasion style robbery where American Idol winner Scotty McCreery and some friends were the victims.

It happened in the 2100 block of Raleigh's Wolf Tech Lane just before 2 a.m. Monday.

The area is an apartment complex near the North Carolina State University campus, where McCreery is a student.

According to Raleigh police, three armed people came into the home and took wallets, cash, and electronic items before fleeing. Police estimate the value of the items stolen as over $1,600, including a $400 iPhone belonging to McCreery, and a $1,200 laptop belonging to one of McCreery's friends.

No one was hurt.

In a 911 call released by police, one of the people in the apartment told an operator "they took everything we have."

"They were like 'Get down. Get on the floor and give us everything you got,'" said the caller.

The caller said the robbers told the group to count down from 100 before they were allowed to get up.

On Wednesday, police charged 19-year-old Mikkail Jamal Shaw with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Police said Shaw turned himself in Tuesday night and was processed at the Wake County Detention Center.

Authorities are still searching for the other suspects.

Meanwhile, McCreery addressed the incident on Twitter Monday:

"Yes, it was definitely a very scary night. Luckily me friends and I are safe and the Raleigh PD is on the case. I will share more when the time is right, but as of now we do not want to do or say anything that could hinder the investigation. Thanks to everyone for their prayers and support. A huge thank you to the Raleigh PD for their quick response and hard work in solving this case."

McCreery - a native of Garner, North Carolina - burst onto the national stage in 2011 when he won the tenth season of American Idol. The country music singer has since released three albums, all of which have been top sellers.

He is finishing up his sophomore year at N.C. State.
