ACC reprimands Duke's Grayson Allen for tripping during FSU game

DURHAM (WTVD) -- The ACC has officially reprimanded Duke's Grayson Allen for what appears to be a trip against Florida State's Xavier Rathan-Mayes at the end of Duke's victory over the Seminoles Thursday night.

The sophomore guard led the Blue Devils with 18 points in an 80 to 65 rout over Florida State.

However, what happened at the end of the game has a lot of people commenting, including Allen.

"He wanted to keep playing physical and so I tried to walk away from him as he's grabbing me and we end up tangling up and falling - and it was really nothing," the Duke player told ABC11 in the locker room after the game.

Allen was referring to what appeared to be him tripping Florida State's Xavier Rathan-Mayes at the end of Duke's victory over the Seminoles.

"Well, I'm not going to take anything from anyone," he added. "Whatever someone is dishing out to me inside the game, inside the rules of the game, I'm going to give it right back. So it doesn't matter to me what kind of physical contact I get, I'm not looking for the ref to bail me out. I'm playing physical right back and I think that shows in my driving ability, in how I attack, how I'm getting open for the ball - I'm going to be just as physical as that person is with me."

He wasn't called for a foul, but it's the second time Allen has been accused of tripping an opponent in the past month.

Two weeks ago, Allen appeared to trip Louisville's Ray Spalding during the Feb. 8th game at Cameron Indoor Stadium. He was called for a foul in that incident.

No further action will be taken by the ACC.
