SPRING LAKE, NC (WTVD) -- This is how they celebrate Christmas in Spring Lake.
Thousands of red, white and blue lights. The only ornaments on this tree bright silver military dog tags, hung and dedicated with love and care.
"We grew up in a military family. My Dad is retired, so it means a lot to us to support the troops," said Jennifer Jensen, a military daughter.
She's hardly alone in that sentiment. Town leaders say Spring Lake owes its existence to Fort Bragg troops, many of the soldiers raised families here and now call the community home.
On Monday night, Spring Lake lit the town's official Christmas tree, one that reflects the special bond the town shares with the military community.
