RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- The next time you see Pope Leo XIV, he might be sporting a new Carolina Hurricanes jersey.
While meeting the pope in Vatican City, North Carolina Labor Commissioner Luke Farley presented his holiness with a custom Carolina Hurricanes Stanley Cup championship jersey.
Farley also awarded the US-born pope the Order of the Tar Heel, which is the highest honor awarded by the NC Commissioner of Labor.
The Canes shared the picture on social media with the response: “The pope: Huge Caniac."
