Wake County man arrested after alleged domestic assault near Wendell, deputies say

WENDELL, N.C. (WTVD) -- A 19-year-old man has been arrested after deputies say he assaulted a woman and damaged her car during a domestic-related incident near Wendell Thursday morning.

According to the Wake County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the 1020 block of Old Homeplace Circle.

When deputies arrived, The victim told investigators that a man shattered the windows of her car and poured a liquid believed to be gasoline in it while she was still inside.

Authorities said the suspect left the scene before deputies arrived.

The victim suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Deputies searched the surrounding area and later located the suspect, identified as Charly Jimenez, 19, near Edgemont Road.

According to court documents, Jimenez is accused of assaulting a woman with a machete and gasoline, which investigators identified as deadly weapons.

Jimenez was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including:

  • Assault on a female
  • Communicating threats
  • Injury to personal property
  • Misdemeanor crime of domestic violence
  • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill

The Wake County Sheriff's Office said the investigation remains ongoing.
