Murdaugh remains in prison serving 40 years for financial crimes
Dontae Sharpe says a judge vacating his murder conviction and life sentence is not enough without a Pardon of Innocence issued by Gov. Roy Cooper.
Darryl Howard, a Durham man who served nearly 24 years behind bars was granted a pardon of innocence by Governor Roy Cooper on Friday.
"How is my case the same as someone who is exonerated with DNA? How can you say my life is only worth $750,000? There should never be a cap on a person's life."
The convictions of the three Nation of Islam members held responsible for the 1965 shooting death of Malcolm X will be reviewed.
"I lost 25 years of my life because I insisted upon my innocence and rejected plea bargains," he said.
