General manager Eric Tulsky announced Friday that Jarvis, 24, had a procedure on a shoulder he had previously injured and will be out "probably 4-6 months."
The Hurricanes have signed forward Seth Jarvis to an eight-year, $63.2 million contract. Jarvis scored a career-high 33 goals last season.
