Michael Boncek set out on a 2,200 mile journey to raise awareness to the 22-a-day suicide rate among the veteran community. Boncek is a disabled Army veteran himself, living with PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury.

He hopes to raise awareness for those conditions as well and hopes to encourage understanding and education in families with veterans and their communities.

Another one of his goals is to raise money for wounded veterans to help give them an independent and healthy lifestyle.

Boncek started his journey in Kill Devil Hills, N.C. and will travel across the state using the Mountain-to-Sea Trail to Clingsman Dome, Tenn. He'll then turn around and come back.

On Sunday, Michael will arrive at his local church in Zebulon, N.C. to celebrate Easter with his family.
