Man charged after bringing handgun into Raleigh hospital: police

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A 21-year-old Benson man is facing multiple charges after allegedly bringing a handgun into a Raleigh hospital on New Year's Day.

It happened at the WakeMed on New Bern Avenue. Police say Travion Jackson, who was on probation at the time, carried the weapon into the hospital.

Jackson has a criminal history, including a 2025 charge for possessing a weapon of mass destruction and a record of failing to appear for court dates.

He is now charged with going armed to the terror of the people, possession of a firearm on an educational property, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Jackson is being held on a $500,000 bond.
