CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. -- A driver is seriously injured Saturday after hitting some trees in Cumberland County
It happened around 11 p.m. on Smithfield Road near Bud Geddie Road.
According to authorities, the man driving a pickup truck was traveling north on Smithfield. After crossing over I-95, the vehicle went off the right side of the road.
The driver tried to overcorrect, then crossed over the center line and off the left side of the road. This is where the pickup hit multiple trees coming to a stop.
The driver was taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital as a trauma patient.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
