DURHAM (WTVD) -- A water main break impacted two downtown Durham businesses Monday.
The rupture happened around 7 a.m. in the 300 block of Roney Street, near Foster Street.
City officials said the line likely busted due to a fluctuation in temperatures, which is common in winter months.
Crews had to shut off the water supply and dig up the asphalt to access the damaged line. As of noon, workers were still trying to repair the main. They said it should be fixed by Monday evening.
An auto body shop and a sheet metal shop were reportedly the only two businesses impacted by the break. Both said they only used the water supply for the bathrooms, so it did not affect their business.
Nearby restaurants were not impacted, despite City officials warning on social media that there could be a chance of a change in water pressure or coloration.
