Person hit, killed by train in Cary

CARY, N.C. -- One person was hit and killed by a train in the area of Old Apex Road at Southwest Cary Parkway Monday night.

Police said it happened just before 10:30 p.m. A female was hit by an Amtrak train that was headed from New York to Miami. It had just left the Cary station and was headed to Southern Pines.

There were 156 people on board. No injuries were reported.

Police are still investigating.
