CENTRAL VALLEY, N.Y. -- Police in New York arrested a man who allegedly left his children alone inside a hotel so that his wife could finish her Black Friday shopping.

The Town of Woodbury Police say that they received a call just before 4 a.m. about a 4-year-old boy wandering the hallways of the Hampton Inn in Central Valley.

The hotel's front desk said that the boy was crying and they became concerned. The boy told police the room number and when police opened the door, they found a handicapped 11-year-old girl inside.

The front desk was able to call the person who rented the room and told him to return immediately.

At 4:36 a.m., Toru Sakaguchi and his wife came back to the hotel.

He told police that he left his children alone at around 3 a.m. so that he could pick up his wife from the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, but he had to wait over an hour for her to be done shopping.

Sakaguchi was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. He's due back in court on December 10.
