Man charged in Raleigh wrong-way crash on I-440

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Raleigh police say a wrong-way driver caused a fatal crash Sunday night on I-440 westbound.

It happened around 9:15 p.m. between Wake Forest Road and Capital Boulevard.

Police said 40-year-old Carlos Martinez Gonzales in a Ford SUV was headed east in the westbound lanes when he hit a car driven by 59-year-old Pareshkumar Shah.

Shah was killed

Gonzales faces multiple charges including felony death by motor vehicle.

The crash is still under investigation.
