Car into house causes gas leak

A car hit a home in Fayetteville Tuesday morning causing a gas leak. It happened just after 8 a.m. at a house on Robeson and Weiss Avenue.

Police say the driver was 58-year old Steve David of 9586 Holbrook Lane.

David was driving on Robeson Street and turning left onto Weiss Avenue when investigators say he apparently blacked out, causing his vehicle to strike the back corner of a residence owned and occupied by 59-year old Charles Williamson.

The impact severed a gas line, so police evacuated the immediate area until Piedmont Natural Gas could repair the broken pipe.

No one was hurt.
