Progress Energy reported power outages along Hillsborough Street at 8:43 a.m. Sunday, after a power line came down.
Under safety precautions, the down line caused a relay to lock out at a power station, leaving thousands in the dark.
Customers were only without power for a short time. By 9:09 a.m., only 284 customers were still in the dark.
All customers had their power restored by around 10 a.m. Sunday, according to Progress Energy.
Customers experienced power outages for a little over an hour. Progress Energy said it doesn't expect to have any more problems with the down power line.
