Man sought in Cary bank robbery

CARY Around 12:15 p.m., the suspect confronted bank employees, displayed a black semi-automatic handgun and directed them to put money in a plastic bag.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, he fled in a white sedan on Holly Springs Road headed toward Walnut Street. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a white man in his mid-40s, standing at about 5' 6" tall and weighs about 180 to 190 pounds. He also has brown hair and freckles.

Officials say the suspect was wearing a blue denim shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone near the area during the time of the robbery is encouraged to contact the Town of Cary Police Department at (919) 469-4013 or Cary Crime Stoppers at 226-CRIM(E). Crime Stoppers pays up to $2,500 for the arrest or indictment of those responsible for committing certain types of crimes. All calls will be kept CONFIDENTIAL at caller's request.
