AAA: Summer 'deadliest days' for teens

RALEIGH -- AAA calls the summer driving season the "100 deadliest days of the year." It's a time when teens are out of school, have more time on their hands, and spend more time behind the wheel.
AAA says over the past five years there have been 5,000 deaths involving teen drivers during the summer months.
60 percent of all teen crashes involve distracted driving, such as texting or using social media. AAA says parents can help.
"We certainly encourage parents to not do it themselves, to be the good role model so that these kids do not see the parents doing it number one. But then talk to them. Have a conversation about, you know, how dangerous it is," explained Sandra Horton with AAA Raleigh.
