The call originally went out as a home invasion and shooting, and pictures over the scene from Chopper 11 HD showed a man's body in the yard next to a car.

But just after 1 p.m. Friday, the Chapel Hill Police Department put out a news release saying they were called about a breaking and entering where a person had been shot. The release stated that when officers arrived, they found a man shot who was taken by Orange County EMS to UNC hospital where his condition was unknown.

The story changed in a second 9 p.m. news release from the Chapel Hill Police Department which stated that when officers arrived, they found a male that had been shot multiple times, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's name was not released until Saturday afternoon. Police say 33-year-old Lew Hahn Hood was not a resident of the home.

Investigators said Bartholomew Romidas Scott, 35, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He was being held in the Orange County Jail without bond.

The relationship between the two men was not explained.

Both St. Thomas More School and Glenwood Elementary School, which are nearby, were put into lockdown as a precaution after the shooting. Police said there was no direct threat to either school.

The investigation is ongoing.
