Woman identified in fatal Garner hit-and-run

GARNER, N.C. (WTVD) -- Garner police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that happened in Wake County overnight on Sunday.





Police said 22-year-old black female victim was walking along US-70 when she was hit. Police said she may have been hit around 3:30 a.m. She was found around 8 a.m. Sunday.



Authorities identified the victim as Kayla Dion Higgins of no known address.



Police said they found her purse Sunday afternoon in the 1300 block of Vandora Springs road.



Authorities are looking for a a minivan with front/right side damage, believed to be the suspect's vehicle.



Authorities have reopened all lanes of US-70 for traffic.



The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Garner police at (919) 772-8810.
