4 charged with murder in Durham shooting on Hardee St.

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Three men and one woman have been charged with murder in connection with the March 16 fatal shooting of Symoud Syheed Lewis, 23, in a parking lot at 530 Hardee Street.

Two of the four people are in custody.

Darryl Lamont Moye, 19, of Durham was arrested on April 12 on a murder charge. He was indicted Monday for attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. He remains in Durham County Jail without bond.

Marquis Kejuan Burnett, 17, was arrested on April 15 on charges of murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. He remains in Durham County Jail without bond.

Authorities are still searching for Devonte Lamar Jackson, 23, of Oxford and E'Monie Wilds, 19, of Durham. Both are charged with murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The incident did not appear to be random, investigators said.

Residents living in nearby apartments told ABC11 that they heard at least three shots fired overnight.

"We put our ear to the door, and we could hear somebody faintly gasping for help, so I open up the door that's when I found him lying in a pool of blood," said one woman, who asked that her identity be concealed. "I just put my hands on him so he would know that somebody was there with him so he didn't feel alone. You never think you're going open up the door to something like that."
