BURLINGTON (WTVD) -- A man was shot multiple times in Burlington on Monday afternoon.

It happened in the 700 block of Tillman Street. Police responded to the shooting call at 2:41 p.m. and found the victim, who was treated at the scene and then taken to Alamance Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

On Tuesday, the victim was identified as Kareem Lamar Johnson, 21. He was transferred to UNC Hospitals and is listed in critical condition.

Police said the shooting happened shortly after a disturbance involving at least four and possibly as many as eight people broke out at the residence. Three to four people were seen running away toward Elmira Street.

They were described only as black men between 20-25 years old, some with dark clothing and some without shirts.

The investigation is continuing. Police said they have received numerous tips, but anyone with information is asked to contact the Burlington Police Department at (336) 229-3503 or anonymously to Burlington/Alamance Crimestoppers at (336) 229-7100.
